How to apply gold leaf to nails | Step-by-step Nail Art
Here's how to apply gold leaf or gold/silver/bronze flakes on nails for a step-by-step nail art tutorial. We'll be using the gold leaf you can find at nailistas.com. It comes in a round jar and contains a gold flake. These flakes usually go a long way, as we tend to use small pieces that can be separated with scissors, tweezers, or even your fingers. Today I'm going to create a tribal-inspired nail art. I've used yellow and black with a touch of animal print, like a tiger. It's an abstract design where I want to highlight the gold flakes and how I use them. I hope you like it.

TRIBAL NAIL ART WITH GOLD FLAKES

For the base, I'm going to use Nailistas' Lima nail polish, which is a very opaque yellow polish. A single coat completely covers the nail. I'll be using the flat brush for nail art, which tapers to a point. All these items can be found in my store. I'm going to start with the black noodle gel paint. The idea is to make some scribbles over the yellow that has already cured in the lamp. It's not complicated at all; the scribbles are quite random. Now we'll apply a coat of the base & top Uv Twin coat nail polish. With the Selfie gel paint, we'll draw some spots on the nail. You can use a palette; in my case, I'm doing it on my glass table. When cured in the lamp, the gel paint cleans very easily from any surface when it's wet. Cure in the lamp for about 60 seconds. We'll make some light blue spots with the Dope Blue gel paint. The spots should be smaller and placed on top of the previous ones. [products ids="13790, 13494 , 13788, 13462 "]

HOW TO APPLY GOLD LEAF ON NAILS

We've already decorated the other nails, now we're moving on to decorating with the gold flakes for nail art. First, I've cut a larger piece with tweezers and I'm going to place it on one of the nails. I position it with the tweezers and gently tap with my finger to make it stick to the polish. On these two nails that I haven't painted with colored gel paint, I've used two large pieces. You can decorate an entire nail with gold leaf, if you want. I'm only decorating half. (see video) I gently tap with my finger to make it stick better. As you can see, it's very easy to tear the gold leaf; it's a delicate material but can be manipulated easily. I tear off some small pieces to decorate the rest of the nails. And finally, it's as simple as applying a clear top coat and curing in the lamp.

EFFECTS WITH GOLD LEAF

You can use the gold leaf stretched out and leave it smoother and shinier by smoothing the surface with your finger. I really like it when it's textured, for that, we'll use a more wrinkled piece and instead of smoothing it, we'll tap it with our finger, pressing downwards to leave it more wrinkled. A countless number of decorations can be made with gold leaf. In my next videos, I will be using this technique both to give finishes and to encapsulate it in nails along with other decorations.
