These are 10 of the best professional
long-lasting nail polish brands you can buy today. I base it on my experience and personal taste. Do you know/have any suggestions not listed in the post? Feel free to leave them in the comments.
I've chosen them based on
quality-price criteria, and of course, durability, bottle size, brush shape... I hope it helps you.
Is "semi-permanent" nail polish the same as "permanent"?
We all know
traditional nail polish, which is removed with nail polish remover (mainly composed of acetone) and lasts approximately 4 to 7 days. It's the normal, everyday nail polish.
Although they are not the same, the vast majority of brands that are called semi-permanent nail polish are actually
permanent nail polish, as they are composed of acrylates, last 2 to 3 weeks, and are removed with acetone.
Both types of nail polish offer greater durability compared to traditional polishes, differing in their composition, application method, and removal process.
However, nowadays there is a lot of confusion about how to name this type of nail polish; in general, in Spain, the term
semi-permanent is becoming more common.
HOW TO CHOOSE YOUR PERMANENT NAIL POLISH BRAND?
When choosing the best brands of
permanent nail polish, we must take several factors into account. For me, the most important ones are: whether it respects the natural nail, the price, the quality, and the colors.
I
strongly advise against buying unknown nail polishes that come, for example, from China. In these countries, controls over components are very scarce, not to mention that they
test on animals and can contain chemicals harmful to health.
It may seem that some Chinese nail polishes are very good because they adhere very well to the nail, but they can be damaging it with their strong chemical components, which are also dangerous for health.
THESE ARE THE 10 BEST PROFESSIONAL PERMANENT NAIL POLISH BRANDS
1. GELAZE
It is the brand of
China Glaze (of American origin, not Chinese as it might suggest, and oriented to salons and professionals).
Undoubtedly one of my favorite permanent nail polish brands, for many reasons. The first is that it is a two-step system: this means you don't need to use primer or base. The polish adheres perfectly to the nail, and when removed, the natural nail is healthy and shiny. A marvel. It cures in a very short time (30 seconds) and its top coat is wonderful.
The colors it has are the usual China Glaze colors, with the same name, among which are my favorites For Audrey or Ruby Pumps.
It is a nail polish
perfect for beginners, as it can practically be painted like a normal nail polish. It
removes very easily and does not damage the nail. Its price is 10.80 euros for 10 ml.

2. NAILISTAS
It is a
permanent nail polish for professionals manufactured in the European Union (Germany). Its medium viscosity formula contains many more pigments than most permanent nail polishes. Thanks to this consistency, a very similar effect to gel nails is achieved with only two thin coats. It cures in LED and UV lamps.
These nail polishes are
odorless,
Vegan (do not contain animal-derived products,
Cruelty-free (not tested on animals),
12 free (do not contain harmful chemicals and are extra safe for professionals), and very
long-lasting (+ 4 weeks).
Its quality-price ratio is excellent since its bottle is 15 ml (many more applications, ideal for salons) and costs €9.90.

3. SHELLAC
Backed by one of the best nail brands (CND) and one of the first to develop and popularize permanent nail polish, so much so that it has become a classic in beauty salons.
Its quality and fame are indisputable, so it had to be one of the first on the list. If it's not higher, it's because of its price, which is too expensive for my taste. It costs around 14-22 euros depending on the size of the bottle.

4. SILCARE
It is a somewhat unknown brand that comes from Poland. As many of you know, in this country there is a very extensive nail culture and many product factories are based there. I really like the image of this brand, which is impeccable. You can
buy their nail polishes on Amazon.
It is
low cost and therefore its products usually have low prices although it is common for them to come in small bottles. It is an ideal brand to start and not spend a lot of money although I do not recommend it for Salon professionals. One of its biggest flaws is that you can't see the color of the polish on the bottle, but it is numbered.

5. OPI
Another well-known salon brand from the
United States. This brand has
excellent quality, its formula is very perfected as they have years of experience.
The pros? Impeccable formulation, beautiful and very eye-catching bottles for your Salon, ideal brush for application.
The cons? Undoubtedly the price of these brands is inflated by the money they spend on advertising, like almost all big brands.
About 25 euros per 15 ml bottle.

6. ESSIE
While in terms of
traditional nail polishes (those that don't cure under a lamp) I can say that this is one of my favorite brands for its durability and colors, it only occupies position 6 in its permanent range.
Like OPI, Essie is a salon brand with many years of experience, but its UV polishes have been released much more recently. Prices tend to be high and the bottle design is not my favorite, although that should be the least of it. They cost an average of 20 euros per 12 ml bottle.

7. SEMILAC
I love the design of Semilac bottles; it reminds me a bit of Silcare nail polishes. Their quality is very good in my opinion. Their range of colors is
especially wide, but unfortunately, you can't tell the exact color from the bottle as it is opaque and black. On the other hand, there aren't many
swatches (photos showing the color on a nail) online.
The 7 ml bottle costs €8.70.

8. PRESTO
I love Presto nail polishes, both their design and their quality. This is a Japanese brand that is not yet sold in Spain, which is a real shame. But you can
buy their nail polishes on the Nail Labo website. This website is American, so keep in mind that if you place a large order, these nail polishes may incur customs fees.
The price of these nail polishes is around 15 euros for a 5gr bottle (they are not measured in milliliters).

9. NEO NAIL
It is a brand widely used by professionals, it has very high gloss colors and a very wide range. What I like most are its nail polishes with glitter pigments; they are true gems.
The biggest drawback of this brand is that its bottles are
small (6ml) and come without a color distinctive, like
Semilac and
Silcare. For this reason, it is difficult to distinguish them at first glance. The price of the bottle is about €9.90 for the color and about €13 if it is for bases or top coats.

10. MADAM GLAM
This is another brand that
is not sold in Spain, but which is very easy to
buy on its website if you know a little English. Its color range is very wide and it's very easy to see the color on the bottle, as it has a band on the bottle and it's also visible on the cap. Many brands should learn from this, as for me it's something very important.
Their bottles are 15 ml and the price is 19 euros, although they always have discounts on the website, and right now you can get them at half price.
They also have a one-step range, without base or top coat.
